Pretty sure my SWR 750x has phantom power, but it doesnt turn on any effect when i connect an effect to it using standard TRS 1/4 cable.

Phantom power can only run through XLR cables and I don't know of any effect pedal that can be run on phantom power. I'm pretty sure you're just gonna have to use batteries or wallwarts for your pedals.

Yeah... Phantom power is generally meant for powering a condenser mic via an XLR cable. Typically this is supplied by the mixer on some or all of the channels of the board.

I know the EBS stuff has (or had) some kind of power system by which the amp would supply the effects, but that's the only one of its kind I've heard of.

I just had a quick look at the 750's specs on the SWR web page, and I didn't see anything about phantom power. Perhaps there's something in the manual suggesting that the DI is okay with phantom power. Some electronics make noise when they are connected to an XLR with the phantom power switched on, so I'm wondering if that's what you're thinking of.

That phantom power is delivered on the third leg of an XLR connector ... not on a TRS at all. And it's applied on an INPUT ... not an output. So, a mixer may provide phantom power on the XLR inputs (to mics, preamps, etc) but on the same channel there's no power on the 1/4" line input. Your amp doesn't have an XLR input, according to what I see, and even if it did, that wouldn't help you with output effects.

Basically ... you don't understand phantom power.

I am pretty sure the Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI will run on phantom power.

There are a handful of pedals that are in fact designed to be able to run on phantom power. But they are a tiny minority, probably less than ten total. To the OP, the simple fact you are missing is that most pedals do not have a power input connection on their audio jacks.

I know the EBS MicroBass II does, thru the XLR, so it wouldn't surprise me if the SAs do to. The other thing that the OP might be missing is that an effect has to be designed to use phantom power, since its usually 48V, and most "standard" effects run on 9 or 18V these days.

Pretty sure it doesn't. If it had Phantom Power, you'd think they would mention it in 20 pages of manual.
