i cant seem to dial in the sound i want on this thing. However, it has some great sounds that i wouldnt have been able to get on the akai.

trade anyone?

I find the input to be really sensitive with my active bass.

i loved the tones on the korg g5. just turn down the gain till you're not lighting the LED. you should be fine. great sounds on that box.

akai deep impact was cool, but a one trick pony, those tones are so dated, it was hard to find other uses for them.

i really love the EHX bass micro synth, that's all i use now, great analog tones

I love my G5. It's surprisingly deep in terms of its sound design programming capabilities -- or at least deep for a stompbox -- so you have to be patient and play with all the parameters. I have noticed that you can impart substantial audible changes to a patch with very incremental modifications of any given parameters...like, value changes of ±1 could be the difference between "beeyorppp" and "PHZZZARMPTHHH"

I found that setting the Input Gain control to between 10 & 11 o'clock has been ideal regardless of what bass I plug in to it. Active, passive, doesn't matter.

I thought it had one good sound (the -1 oct sawtooth) and even that was fizzy and woolly and undefined.

And the filter infuriated me because it will not stay completely static no matter what you do.
