What do you use a Phaser for?

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a el nano Phaser 90 a while back and I haven't really used it. I was wondering what everyone else uses it for....do most people put it in their pedal board and just use it to form their tone? Give me some insight.

I like it for swirly sounds. I like swirly sounds but I hate chorus, which is the usual way bass players get swirly sounds. I like my swirly sounds from a phaser or flanger.

For me my phaser has replaced both my chorus and flanger for now. It's swooshy like the flanger but watery like the chorus. Plus it sounds awesome with some dirt going into it.

I've read a lot about Octave pedals as well. I want to go and get one this weekend because I wanna get a deeper tone.....Is that gonna do the job? I've been watching all of these bs boss oc-3 video demonstrations on youtube but The pedal is not doing what I thought it would. Any help on this? I also have a Boss equalizer so I guess I can just adjust all the low end so thats all that comes out.

A very experienced player told me I can modify the octave to do what I want it to do "play deeeeeep notes" but I duno if I wanna go messing with that. suggestions?

I use my old Systech phaser with my fretless for melodic passages. Gives them sort of a fluid-like character. My favorite pedal.

Octavers do the same note an octave down (a couple do octave up as well). They won't make your regular note deeper. That's an EQ or cab issue.

making really swirly feedback and loud spacey whirling lines that fit into spacier rock songs.

As for what I use a phaser for: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8090327 CHIP TUNE SOUNDS!

Thats what you get when you set the step rate and resonance to tap-synced LFOs while running fuzz->phaser
