You'll want an overdrive or distortion to start. What's your price range?

Check here: FUZZROCIOUS PEDALS
A tad more than your price range but hey, you get what you pay for.
Listen to the sound samples/youtube videos of each pedal, that should give you a good idea of what you're looking for.

Realistically, there's not a lot of effects for Post-hardcore IIRC.

For hardcore in general, you probably want some fuzz/distortion.

Check above, the fuzzrocious stuff is good, a little overpriced, but good.
Vintage RATs are probably your best bet, I think there are a few on the classifieds. They usually run about 70$.

My personal favorite would be a SS/BS F*** Overdrive or Team Awesome Fuzz machine. But those are also out of your price range.

I completely disagree that fuzzrocious pedals are overpriced. Also being the owner of several vintage rats I know that you end up paying more than $70 for one, and then to get the most out of it generally you need to get it bass modded.

Go fuzzrocious. Their rat tail will serve you right.

The only pedal you *need* is a tuner. Fuzz and distortion are nice, but not necessary.

THIS. Not overpriced if your buying new, at all.
