What Effects is he using?

I've never been one to use effects (in my 21 years of playing), but if I could do this, I think I would find a way to put it to some use!!!

I realize that it is probably a combination of effects that he has spent years tweaking and searching for that right sound, and it may seem unfair to want to swoop in and fid out what it is, but that is exactly what I want to do.

This is JoJo Mayer and Nerve. I'm not sure who the bassist is.

I think I know who he is.

Look up JohnDavisNYC - the current bassist for Nerve. Not sure if it's the same guy in the video, but there's only one way to find out, right?

I'd say... PM him for more info, and post the reply.

I love that vid! It's been discussed at some length before, but I'm not sure there was ever a conclusive answer to exactly what was going on. I'd love to hear from JonDavisNYC (JohnDavisNYC ??) about what was really being used.

You are right, it has been discussed, and there never was a definitive answer. I guess we can consider this a continuation of the discussion!!

i dont think its a combonation of effects...it just sounds like a good synth to me.

that sound is definately achievable in the korg G5, and maybe EHX bass micro synth..not sure about a deep impact (never owned one) but its likely.

but when you can see his foot on the board he has an expression pedal...maybe its a korg AX3000B?? dont know.

Could get close enough to that with a BMS easily enough. That sort of thing is what I originally bought mine for. You wouldn't get expression pedal control though (although some people have modded theirs for exp. inputs on the stop freq. slider).

Interesting...I was in a GC today picking up a new bass cab, and some guitard was fooling around with the Line6 FM4 and got really close to that sound. I have no idea how well the FM4 works with bass, though.
