My instructor's about to start me on tapping and I may need all the help I can get with muting what I don't want, but what will it be like without the open strings' goodness, etc...
- edit - if anyone has an un-wanted extra one, I'll buy it off of you...PM me.

Initial thoughts: I've worked very hard on technique over the years (including muting), so I could see these being useful for tapping and as more of an insurance policy for muting. I could see them being a good-to-have studio tool, but not sure I'll use them in daily playing. I'll keep messing with them and report back further...

At risk of shocking the B-ster, this was my FX setup this morning, as well. the Joyo EQ is dead quiet and functions exactly like an EQ should. Only $35 shipped to my house. |

i'm going to bring a pair to a recording session coming up though. might help with cleaner recordings on fingered or other parts. | I use them alot. Regardless of whether or not you tap (I do), they are KILLER in the studio. being able to throw one on and just nail a part cleanly and move on is invaluable. When we recorded our full length in June, the engineer liked them so much on my bass that he made the guitar players use them! |

The price point makes me a little skeptical, but hey, for $35 it could probably be "disposable" if need be, right? How does it sound? The EQ points look like they'd work pretty well...

So, the 100, 200 and 400 Hz sliders become the useful point for the mids.
It is a solid metal case. I tested it by itself last night and it is dead quiet, on and off. This will be an always-on pedal for me, to control the mids, so I am not too worried about the switch. In general, Joyo has reasonably good quality. It is just an analog graphic EQ. This kind of effect should NOT cost a lot of money.

I did wonder about that lowest frequency point, but 100Hz is what the B7K uses for a low control and I hear nothing but smashing good stuff about it. I'm actually contemplating putting a couple pedals up for sale to fund one. I haven't really bought much of anything for gear in... 9 months? Maybe I can splurge on something for a Christmas present to myself?
Have you tried any other Joyo pedals? Now you've piqued my curiosity!

Overall, none of the Joyo line will wow you, but they are good, solid representations of the usual effects. |
