Solid build quality. Jacks feel just as sturdy if not more so than other pedals on my board, though I cant comment just yet on whether or not they are connected to the pcb. Ill open it up in a bit. True bypass. Will report back with sound quality/comparison to the 105q. Going to try to do a youtube demo as well.

what's the throw range compared to normal sized expression pedz? |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Aug 2010 Location: Burbank, Ca | | | A little smaller (hard to compare...maybe half the range? or a little more than half?) and it noticeably changes frequencies midway, doesnt feel as natural as the 105q in its sweep though it may just be me not being used to the springless wah yet (ie no pressure pushed back against my foot to slow the sweep speed and it sweeps more quickly with the smaller range). They do have a set screw for adjusting the movement speed of the pedal, I already have it all the way tightened (for slower movement) and i feel it still moves more quickly than Im used to. very dubby all the way back, solid bass boost actually - i would consider using the pedal sitting all the way back for a fat round sound and not even utilizing the wah (depending on what freq you select). The thing I hated most about the 105q was the tone loss in bypass, its unnoticeable with the WH-1b. Its not nearly as spikey as the 105q. Theres no volume control on the WH-1b and I dont feel as though I am missing it. With only a switch (unlike the 105 with sweepable knob) to select the freq I feel a little limited, but they did a good job with the freq's they selected and I feel as though all of them are useable. I dont have my chiwahwah anymore, or any recordings of it, but based on memory I would pick the WH-1b over it without question. Being the same price new as a 105q at $119 (IIRC), i would pick the WH-1b without question. Plays well with fuzz. With my 105q I had my fuzz after the wah, which is how I have the WH-1b set up now. With the 105q I hated fuzz before the wah, so I will try that out next and see what happens. That may not be a pedal issue, more of a personal taste thing but we'll see.
I would never physically throw a thumbs up or say "rock on"...but this pedal makes me imagine myself doing so. As far as personal taste goes, I still am not certain if I would prefer a manual wah to an envelope filter (never had one), but I am really enjoying this so far.

sorta tongue-in cheek. i don't care if someone plays clean or drenched in efx. just don't be boring. i don't get bands that are just doing the same thing that's been done buttloads. i guess good on them for having fun, but for me.... to listen to? BLEGH. | I play in a band and I just DROWN my tone with fuzz. We have one guitarist, so it certainly helps fill out the sound while maintaining the low end.
Then again, I consider "dirty" or "tube grind" to be my clean tone.
Unfortunately, you won't like the music we play.

I think I'm heading for a Strymon Mobius.......and I still need a phrase sampler. And possibly getting the Mountainking Heavy Machine to do a gladiator bout against the Oxide to see who gets to sit next to the TAFM on my board.
So many pedals and so little funds.....but they should all replace other pedals....so the funds shouldn't be too far off.....
Oh. And all the kids are now in Lake Charles. Time to start our routine. |

| Definitely would love to hear some clips!
Also, is it more of a 'vocal' or 'squelchy' wah? The two most important things for me to buy one are:
1) If it's too peaky when sweeping through the midrange section of the wah with an active Bass?
2) If there's enough of a volume increase when turning it on to make it cut? The lack of a volume boost concerns me! Haha!
Sorry for the slight thread de-rail........... |

So if you're familair with that pedal you can see the differences. The only active bass I have is an Ibanez EDB600 (my first bass), but it has a far lower output than my passive bass. My passive sb-2 is hot as hell. I dont find the pedal to be too peaky at all, I think the reason I pointed out the noticeable frequency shift midway through the sweep is because I am just not used to the shorter throw range, and quicker movement speed of the pedal. I have yet to jam with my drummer and this pedal, but I dont forsee there being any issues with the lack of a volume knob.
Now all I need is a pedaltrain mini

I donated a bunch of money which gave me a certain number of entries in the prize give-away. Of the 16 prizes, my name came up three times. Once for my own prize donation, and two more times. So, I have a Colorsound Overdriver and a Mooer Trelicopter headed my way. I figure with the two new pedals, I might want to rethink what goes after all of my custom-ordered pedals arrive. So, I will probably be purging in January, and most likely in a way that will help feed the hungry. |

I now need to start thinking about building my own board, either with wood or lexan/plexiglass (My wife has a ton leftover from an art project).

In: Love of my tone last night at practice. There are some things that I'd like to add in the future, but honestly I'm super happy with my sounds right now. Contentment. I'm also really ready to stop agonizing over effects and my chain and what's gonna come next and all of that.
Ready to start thinking about other gear purchases (don't even have a bedroom rig to play on right now ), and starting work on my sleeve
