Why Earthbound Audio is awesome

Sign in to disble this ad
Recently, I traded a Supercollider BEAST for just a Supercollider v2.

The prior owner of the Supercollider used masking tape to keep track of settings in the studio. This SC was one of the earlier V2s, the decal was not as adhered, with the tape, off came the decal. Sucks, but eh.

Mark (chief proprietor of Earthbound) is re-decaling it, but to the newer higher better standards, for nothin!

Oh, he's also awesome because he made the Supercollider, which is nothing short of amazing

The reason why I love small, boutique companies.

Is this the original Green/Black scheme that he's fixing up?

It looks like this

The keen eye will notice several things: I love my Analog.man, I'm lacking good patch cables, and there's a chunk missing out of the PT-mini..

I love it but my only complaint was those knobs were so easy to move, once I dialed in a perfect tone I would lose it again easily,... ended up going with a hyperion in its place for smallness/two knob easy to find sweet spot...

that said its an awesome pedal and does ultra low doom like no tomorrow

What are the differences between the BEAST and the SuperCollider V2? I have noticed that between the time the bassfuzz.com review came out, and now, the SuperCollider seems to have gotten three new knobs.

Anyone have an email address for this guy? How do I order? Dropping comments on his blogspot/myspace are getting me nowhere.

The first version had four knobs and a mids switch.

The second version traded the mids switch for a knob. (that's the one pictured at the top of the thread) He still makes one like this with different graphics.

The Beast version has two more knobs which control oscillators built into the pedal.

I get the impression he's quite the busy guy and pedals aren't just made-to-order (well, they are, but the available catalog is quite limited); they have runs and the BEAST is going to be a "seasonal" pedal. I've also heard chatter of the Centurion nearing completion and a couple other crazy things being conceived.

The only sort of mojo that I approve of on my gear is self-induced, typically from smashing and/or throwing (if you saw my old Stingray..)

yeah, my decals came off within 2 days of using his supercollider.

I wasn't very impressed with the "fit and finish" to say the least.

I have a v1 that looks as good as new, so I'm not really sure what to tell you.

I have also heard he's not too great about replying to emails immediately. That stands.
But he's fixing it for free, so I'm not complaining. And he is the creator of the holy Supercollider

Maybe it's because the Beast is made in batches?

I ordered my supercollider a month ago and it shipped after two weeks. Then the damn ashcloud from Iceland delayed it in shipping, but yesterday I finally picked it up from my local post office.

And oh dear - this pedal rocks! My neighbour complained last night about the - and I quote - 'unbearable noise'.
I think I'm in love..

The BEASTs are batched as far as I know.
My Supercollider...I have no clue where it is and it's quite disconcerting.

What do you mean? Has the pedal shipped and is lost somehow, or is Mark still building it and he's simply not responding to e-mails?

If the last scenario is the case, then be patient or send another e-mail. He's not very good at replying fast, but he will reply eventually. In my case he forgot to send me a T&T number after he shipped it.
