I don't play with any. I used to use an Ibanez PD7 for some distortion a long time ago when I was going through my metal phase. But other than that I really haven't had any need or desire for effects. Although, I have toyed with an envelope filter that was very entertaining.
What on earth does everyone with those huge boards use all that for?

I use wah on some bass fills that don't cut through. Tuner is obvious but under used. And Delay just sound cool on chill bass lines, I use it more like a reverb type deal and for some Pink Floyd stuff.

I use a Boss BCB-30 pedalboard, and on it I have a Boss LMB-3 Limiter/Enhancer, a Boss GEB-7 Bass EQ, and a Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus. I also hook up a DigiTech Bad Monkey for when I need an OD boost. That's it. Gives me all the sound-shaping tools I need, without worrying about stuff I don't need. Sets up quickly, too.

Just because you prefer to not use them does not make it right... or wrong.
It's preference.
Why people cannot accept that continues to amaze me.

| | | well you see, in every persons mind at some point in their life, they are different. and in that moment, a very important life decision is made- to be different, or not to be different, to misquote Shakespeare. the ones who decide to be different, radically so, are the ones who spend many an hour slaving over crafting their unique sound utilising pedals, amps, basses, cords, the neighbors garden hose, and whatever else they may find to be useful. the ones who decide to not be different, on the other hand, play a PBass with flats into an SVT for their entire life and are happy with it. either way, the person is happy, and thats all that matters.

Why don't you use effects? Because that's how you get the sound you want. Surprise, Surprise
