Will the LS-2 do this?

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's what I'm looking to do:

Step One: Buy a Pigtronix Disnortion, which has a clean output.

Step two: Run the clean output through an OC-2, or possibly even just my ol' Digitech BSW for a pure, clean octave down with no dry signal.

Step three: Run the LS-2 as a combiner, so I can stomp it on and add the clean octave down to a dirty signal.

It seems as if I remember reading that it will do this, but I wanted to make sure before I get too attached to this plan I have brewing in my head.

If the LS-2 won't do this, can you point me in the direction of something similar that will?

Thanks a bunch!

The LS-2 can combine any 2 separate pedals in parallel, no need to use the clean output of the Pigtronix! Otherwise, it should do it the way you described too, but I can't say 100%...

Yeah, you can do that. I do a similar thing with an X-Blender.

That clean out on the Disnortion comes in handy. I've recorded straight from that out (blending with the mic'ed sound) and it sounds great. Cool idea to try with a clean octave down- let us know how it sounds.

I custom ordered this from Loop Master.

It's more than what you're requiring, but does it.

It's got the ABY inputs on there to do exactly what you're describing.
My Hartke Bass Attack has two outputs, so i'm running one signal into the looper section that will have some fuzzes and more. (input A)
I'm running the second output into an octave pedal then into input B.
So when I hit the A+B switch my fuzzes will run parallel with the clean octave down.

Or using the A/B switch, I can toggle between fuzz and octave.
And lots of other options too which I won't get into right now.
I found that Brian from Loop Master will work with you on many many combinations of switchers and loopers. Really cool guy.

You can discuss with him any of your ideas. But of course, the LS-2 might be cheaper and easier to get. (wait time for Loop Master is pretty long).

I already do something like this with my current set up. I run the dry output of my BSW through my dirt pedals to the left input on my Stereo Memory Man, and the effect out of the BSW straight to the right input of the SMMH. When I kick on the delay, it automatically sums the inputs, but I was hoping to be able to have some more controll over the blend levels.

Actually, the OP wants to switch in/out the octave sound, but always have the fuzz sound.

A+B mode toggles between A+B and just the input, so he'd have fuzz+clean or fuzz+octave, but never just fuzz.

You can still used the A+B mode to do what he wants tho:

Go fuzz out->LS-2 input and clean out->OC-2/BSW->either of the LS-2s returns. A or B. It don't matter. Now, put a small patch cord from the return that you're NOT using to it associated send. You're basically just putting the input signal "unaffected" into one of the channels.

Personally I'd put the clean sound in channel B since send/return A is closer to the front and you can loop a right angle patch cord around the front without really interfering with the other jacks too much.

"Bypassed" will now be just fuzz, since thats whats hitting the input. Turn it on and you will have the option of blending both the clean and fuzz sounds!

I'll be here all week

Thanks for the input Daniel. I was totally overthinking how I would rig the LS-2 into the setup.

If you have the OC-2 before the OFO (disnortion) then the clean out is going to get octave down...and the OFO sounds great after the OC-2...

...I'm sure you have your reasons, but why not just have the OC-2 in a place where you can use it in conjunction with the octava channel or the awesome parallel fuzz and overdrive?

I really dig OFO driven OC-2. very awesome. Blend in some treble fuzz? versatile synth.

what do you expect your signal path to be after the OFO/LS-2->OC2 combo?
