Anyone think this would be useful? I'm toying with the idea of writing one.
I've seen too many boxes drawn on mspaint to see if my pedal will fit and how they will fit so maybe I can take it a step farther.
Features can include pedalboard size, add pedals, move them around, etc etc. As it develops it can have cool features like import/export pedals so they can be sent around once someone creates them. Also other features can be added like total power requirements, weight, how much Velcro do I need, and all sorts of useful info.
Would anyone actually use this if I decide to write it? Any volunteer alpha/beta testers?

Sounds like a great idea, I've been trying for a while now with image editing programs liek fireworks, word and even google sketch up. got far too bored with the constant changing and resizing, but a specific program would be a great idea i think!
Would also be willing to test |

With that kind of market, you could probably sell it for $20, or even market it to pedalboard companies to include with their products. I'd be willing to test it. |

Who knows, it may even end up in an eSellerate web store. |

It would be great to have a list of pedals to download, and even extremely greater to be able to sample how they'll effect your signal... but that's big picture stuff I would imagine.
I'll happily test, but I'm on a mac. If you can write it for that... or an iphone app, I'm your man.

You could create a free account to try out the basic features, or pay $5 to go premium where you get more features like load/save, upload pedal info to the database, etc...

I'm getting started with Cocoa as well so a mac version may be available in the future.
@dannyboy - what kind of online db can you provide? mysql? an on-line pedal repository would be nice. |

Have you considered doing it as a Java applet? Java is extremely similar to C#, so it wouldn't be a huge leap for you. Then Linux nerds like me could use your program (and I guess Mac people too). |

| | | | It would be a good idea, im currently designing a new pedal board and therefore I need to establish where all the pedals are going. Also if you want to make it more of a "open source" project, sign me up as a coder. |

If this was a community effort, people could submit specs for any pedal they wanted (dimensions, power requirements, inputs and outputs with locations, weight, and ???). You could also have specs for different pedalboards, power supplies, etc.
With that info, the app could tell you what kind of power requirements you have, the exact cable lengths you need to connect a setup, the weight of your pedalboard with different configs. it could be really cool.
If you need any code or design help, let me know. I don't have a ton of time, but I'd be happy to contribute. |
