Wombats sound!

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering how to get the same sounding bass as the wombats bassist, for example in tokyo!
See the video if you don't know them, starting at 12 seconds.

The Wombats - Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves [Track 02] - YouTube

I cant seem to recreate it!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just sounds like the bass EQ is favoring the mids rather than the lower 50hz freqs.

In other words the EQ on your amp should look like a upside down smiley.

It's all down to preference of course, but sometimes you're better turning the lower bass eq down and turning the input gain up a bit more (although not so that it starts clipping the sound). Don't forget when you adjust the EQ levels to also re-adjust the input gain as well.

Might help if you said what amp you have since that will likely play a major part in getting a particular sound.

Oh and it sounds like they use a pick too.

Thanks I really appreciate your help!
What sort of levels should I be going for with the EQ? Are we talking no treble and no bass and full middle or is it some sort of midground?
My actual amp is an Ashdown Five Fifteen which is not brilliant so Im not sure how close I can get.. :S
