| Tracking can be wildly variable depending on which way the wind is blowing, whether the moon is in a new phase, and whether your high school gym teacher's brother-in-law's pet donkey is standing up or lying down at the time.
Some people rave about X pedal, while others think X pedal is completely crap. The ONLY way is to try it out for yourself, with your bass, your fingering style, your pickup choice, your tone configuration etc etc.
I'm not convinced a compressor really does anything for tracking, so if I were you I'd probably just hold off unless I definitely knew that I wanted a compressor pedal.
You have to take all the info on the internet with a BIG grain of salt - after all it's mostly just opinions, and some people are good at sounding informed and intelligent when they are actually ignorant and numb-skulled.
