Your Big Muff & Chunky Cheese Settings

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been using a green Big Muff and a blended Chunky Cheese as my go-to fuzzes, but I'm curious as to how other people are setting them up. I realize it's all personal preference, but I'm wondering how others get the most out of these pedals.

I typically set the Muff at eleven 'o clock for volume and tone, and distortion at about 2 'o clock (too high?). Chunky Cheese on the gated setting with the gain (gate) at 11 'o clock, tone at 9 'o clock, and volume at 10-11 'o clock. I usually crank the "bass" knob on my X-blender all the way to give the CC even more low end when blended.

How do you set yours? Very interested.

I also have the CC in a blender (Boss LS-2). I set it in the gated mode with the gain cranked (all that saturation is what causes that pinched gated sound),...the tone I crank then roll off a little bit and the volume is just over 12'o'clock.

Do you find that you lose a lot of low end when you crank the tone knob like that? Even blended, I find I have to set the Chunky Cheese's tone knob to the far right in order to keep the lows. If it wasn't such a great sounding fuzz I would have considered kicking it off my board for it's low end loss..
