Zoom B2.1u as Bass Whammy

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a Zoom B2.1u, and I'm still trying to figure some things out. For instance, I was playing a little bit of Tool, and I tried to set the Zoom pedal to sound like a whammy (you know, use the 5th up/8th up and 5th up/6th up harmony bends that justin chancellor uses so much) but I don't think it can be done. I mean, when I put the foot controller to controll Modulation settings it seems all it does is controll the mix of the pitch effect. I can't get it to do a 5th up with the foot controll up and an 8th up with the foot controll down. Does anyone know if there is a way to do it? 'Cause I read posts of people saying that it could be done, but I can't see how!
Thanks in advance!

The B2.1u will not do those exact pitches like the Whammy can, the instructions are on page 32 but you will also need to review the section about assigning the expression pedal on page 20. Looking those sections over I think you may use the MH or ML command on page 34.
I always found those functions confusing and never really got into using them, I have a Digitech BP8 that can do those functions.

I'm in the same exact situation. My band is rehearsing for a Tool tribute concert and at first I thought that my Zoom B2.1u could get the job done (I'm not that picky with effects). But I gave up after trying lots of things to get a whammy-like effect to work. Since the DigiTech Bass Whammy is discontinued, which is a good, currently available choice? Thank you in advance!

If you can find a Digitech BP8 it has all the early Whammy functions and a whole lot more.
