Zoom B2.1u / Spector Problem?

ok so i have a Zoom B2.1u and a USA Spector Bolt-on, and for some reason when i set the zoom to any of the MOD/SFX effects i get a high pitched noise (the noise changes a little depending on the setting...) that runs in the background, unless i have an amp model set up at 100% volume to cover it up. It doesn't do this on any other bass i've tried it with and i've never had an issue with the spector before. any clue what it could be?

spectors are well known for the high output, maybe it's too high this time...

it happens no matter what the volume on the spector is set at...its just gets louder the higher i turn it up.
