Zoom B2.1u XLR messed?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've had my Zoom B2.1u for probably a year and a half now, and I finally decide to try using it as a DI, so I plug everything in, and put the xlr to the pedal and to the board. But when I play I get this like distortion sound, although the effect I have it on doesn't have distortion. I tried flicking through the different effects, and, though they weren't all the same, they had that distortion sound in it. I thought maybe I was just peaking the system, so I tried turning it down, and I bypassed the effects so it should just be my dry bass, but still it was there. I even tried different pre/post and ground/groundlift combinations, nothing changed it... :S help?

This was helpful ...

Try cleaning the contacts. Going unused for a year and a half, they can get plenty corroded.

Have you tried a hard reset to see if the distortion is still present?

Can you set the Direct Out levels? Or, you may need to lower the gain for your channel on the mixing board.... IDK, just throwing bones

The XLR out on the B2.1u is a line level, much hotter than a mic and will overdrive most mixer inputs. Hopefully your mixer has an input gain or pad switch which needs to be all the way off. It is such an issue that I have been carrying a passive DI to my gigs where I go direct. OTOH if your mixer will support the B2.1u the tone is pretty durn good.

Listen man, its actually a decent pedal, especially for my first pedal ever. If you can't say anything that'll help, just mind your own business. Kinda childish really.

Everyone else, thanks for the help, I'll try some of your suggestions if I get the chance!
