Zoom B2 bypass setting

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I'm putting a little board together that I would like to be able to use for multiple purposes including: bass with effects, bass without effects, and guitar. I would like to keep my B2 in the chain but also be able to produce an unprocessed signal into the rest of the chain without a switching option.

I can't seem to find a way to have the B2 set to "neutral" or a bypass that doesn't mute the signal. Anyone have any suggestions?

You should be able to do that by briefly pressing both foot switches. It mutes the signal if you hold both switches down longer, but if you do it quickly it should go in to bypass. At least that's how my B2 works. I have it in my effects chain and it works well.

I find the 2 button thing to be a flaw. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes not, and it's awkward.

I just program completely neutral settings (between all other preset programmed settings) and keep the unit on all the time.

So a neutral setting is always 1 click away, left or right button.

I do the same as the last 2, and also use an external pedal to bypass and mute/tune.

Thanks guys, I find the two button option tricky and haven't actually been able to get a bypass without mute. I took your advice and made a "neutral" setting, that seems to be the ticket!
Thanks!

Boss FS-5U pedal. One tap and it bypasses. Tap again, effect back on. Step on pedal and hold, effect mutes. Works perfect for me.

What he/she said. Easy, and cheap.

I use a keyboard sustain pedal for bypass/mute/tune.
Yamaha FC5 or Roland DP2 are inexpensive solutions

So basically any footswitch will do to bypass the effect, that's very good to know.

Here's another question regarding order of effects. Are there any thoughts about using an additional outboard wah pedal with the B2. Since I'll be using this for guitar as well as bass I want to have the crybaby option. I played around with it last night and frankly it sounded terrible, very shrill and produced a massive volume spike, should I put the wah in front of the B2? Maybe I should just try and post results, but curious about experience.
