Zoom B2 question

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know how to change the default volume for the drum machine section. The doggone thing seems to be set on max and I can't lower the volume until after turning it on! I think I killed the crossover on one of my Epifani cabs because I forgot to turn the amp volume down before I hit the start button! I'm pissed because it's gonna cost me a pretty penny for a new crossover!

Help!

Sorry 'bout your tweeter/crossover. No way to reset those default volumes that I know of both for the drum machine and output. You should be able to go to the rhythm module and adjust the volume before you press start for the drum loops. .

I tried. You can't adjust the volume until after you press the start button.

I'm assuming you mean compressor? It's pretty decent. Honestly, I think the 506II has better usable patches. The B2 B bank is all amp modeling and is useful as well as the octave effects. The compressor is a lot quieter on the B2 though. Patch B2 on the 506II is a compressor/eq patch great for slapping but is noisy,

The comp and limiters on the B2 are so so at best, about the same as most digital multi efx, usable in a pinch but certainly not anything I'd expect to use much.

I have had a B2 for a few years.

I think that technology had much better potential than what they shipped with the preset patches. The capabilities of the B2 are actually pretty good - combined with, IMO, a most excellent tuner. It's a great value. But they shipped it with plenty of bizarre, unusable presets.

They could actually get away with doing another version of that pedal - with the same technology, and just better patches - and I bet it would be popular.

Would love to see them do a lower power version of it. The current one takes 4 AAA's. Nothing outrageous, but it would be nice to have that pedal in a single 9V version.

The original 506 used 9v but ate them pretty fast. The 506II and B2 use AA's but they last a lot longer. I can get 2 shows out of a set of AA batteries, maybe 3 or 4 if I use Lithium batteries but I use the supplied power adapter. I agree about the patches on the B2. Not sure what Zoom was thinking. The 506II has much better patches and they could have expanded on them. Too bad the Zoom doesn't have a USB connection. If they had a PC program that could edit and tweak, that would be great. You can edit on the pedal but I'm just a plug and play kinda guy. No time for messing around with a pedal. I do like that B bank on the B2. That SWR modeler patch kills. The Hartke patch is good too but could use a bit more lows.

I agree the potential of the B2 is in some ways ruined by the bizarre factory patches. IMHO None of the factory presets are usable, they are a few that offer good starting places but most of my sounds were from the ground up.

I have reverted to using my 506II for now. I use the octave effects and patch b2 which seems to be a 'Slap Bass' setting with smiley face eq and compressor. Can't take the risk of the drum module on my B2 starting up accidently and damaging another speaker cab! I wish they could come up with a fix for it! There's no reason for the default volume being that high!
