Zoom B2 vs. Sansamp VT

Sign in to disble this ad
Other than the obvious effects of the B2,, can the tone shaping preamp of the Zoom B2 sound as good, or even replace a pedal such as the Sansamp VT or BDDI ?

I'm looking at a VT deluxe, but want to add some effects as well. Can the Zoom B2 do it all?

Can I kill 2 birds with one stone?

IMO, Zoom B2 isn't that great.

I really like Tech 21 products. I don't know much about the Zoom so take what I say with a grain of salt. Does the zoom have a DI? I always have a BDDI in case I ever need one in an emergency. I do have a VT Deluxe but haven't found my comfort level with it like I have with the BDDI.

I have a Zoom B2 and I love it. It's very flexible. I use it all the time with a passive DI box. It does have a wide variety of usable sounds once you learn to tweak it. That being said, for a stand alone DI/preamp, the Tech 21 stuff is in a different league.

I had a zoom b2, and used it a lot both in practice and live. I have a vt bass deluxe now. Theres really no comparison. The zoom has some decent effects, chorus, flange, delay, etc. But the amp modeling is not that great. It does have a lot of great features though. If you can possibly get both, you'd have a great setup. There is so much that the zoom can do that the VT can't. BUT, in my opinion, at least, everything that the VT can do, it does a LOT better.

The amp modelling is decent on the Zoom but not nearly as close as the SA pedals especially on the VT sounds.

Thats what I suspected. I really like the Tech 21 stuff. It just works for me. Thanks for the input.

Ya, I have both, and while there are some settings that can kind of mimic the VT, the VT is just in a different league. I love my B2 for effects I don't have a separate pedal for, like fuzz or ring modulation (not that I use either much ), but a good pedal will always beat it.
