Does the sound quality through the headphones is solid and is there anything I should know about before buying the multieffect ?
| The B3 sounds awesome through my old Sony DR-S3 stereo monitoring headphones.
Obviously, the B3 will sound crap through crap headphones, and for that reason it's terrible through my little in-ear iPod phones!

| | | I got my B3 today.
I noticed that even dry with no effects, the box changes the signal slightly. It's not a lot, but the sound is different if I plug directly into the amp.
I am also a bit concerned about is how hot signal is with the effects. I had to dial the volume down into the single digits on some of the patches in order to get parity with my dry signal.
Aside from these issues, I'm blown away with all the stuff that's in this box. I'm looking forward to spending some time with it. |

I'm trying to use the edit and share software, but it doesn't seem to connect to the device (my B3).
I'm using XP... I've installed the latest driver, but it doesn't see it, even though the computer reports that the B3 device is working properly.
Help! |

There aren't many portable units that can drive these. I suspect it's no problem with 32 ohm headphones. |

| That's weird. I don't know what to suggest other than try disconnecting/connecting it again.
Mine only reads through one of my USB ports, not the other.
Maybe try swapping ports?
Zoom's Edit & Share is one of the best parts of owning a B3 IMHO!

But the E&S software sees no device, even though when I unplug it and plug it back in, it attempts to connect, but when you try to manually connect, it's not there....
FRUSTRATING! |

I just came up with a groove, chose a rhythm/tempo for it, recorded it, recorded rhythm guitar on top of it, practiced guitar solos for a bit. When I became bored of that, I recorded two additional rhythm guitars on top, and soloed with my fretless over the whole arrangement - endless fun!
One drawback I noticed - with the distortion models, I don't seem to be able to blend out the clean signal completely, even with the blend knob. While this is mostly desirable with bass, it makes them almost completely useless for guitar (and I'm not buying a G3 for my 10 minutes of guitar playing per month, thankyouverymuch). |

Within each FX parameter, and within the Total patch section. Most of the factory patches have some serious clean blend in the Total so make sure to check there. |

FRUSTRATING! | Not sure if this is the problem, but when running Windows XP, the Edit & Share software requires that Windows XP Service Pack 3 be installed on your computer.
If you are not sure how to check which (or if any) Service Pack is installed on your computer, you can type the word "winver" in the Run command line and it will pop up a box that will state WinXP and any Service Pack installed. If you don't have Service Pack 3 installed, you can download Service Pack 3. Best of luck with it!

Notching the Global/Patch level down to 60 and the Total/Level down to 60, as well as setting each effect's level down to 70 (all set to 50%), I was able to achieve parity with my dry signal.
Something that I noticed is that if change the Effect Type in an unused Patch, it will load in at the factory default, where all of the settings are tweaked too hot.
Has anyone found a way to set the defaults of each effect?

I personally set my Total level at 100% and run my FX levels as needed. That leaves extra patch headroom as in a band context you often do NOT want your effected sounds to be at unity with your clean sound, but want them louder. Otherwise they get lost in the mix due to less cut/punch/whatever. |

| I guess that's another way around the issue of too-hot signal from the B3.
I ended up setting all of the patches I use live up sound-wise, initially ignoring the Total level adjustment.
After this I plugged the B3 into my amp, then went through the patches, one at a time, adjusting the Total level until they sounded slightly louder than the dry signal.

| | | So I got my Zoom b3 effect today, messed with it a bit, and I love it.
It's shame to say but I went back to playing guitar after buying the Rocksmith Game and the zoom effects are far better then in game.
I still didn't have a chance to even remotely check all of them but I love the pastorius jazz effect so far (very unique) and some funny effects like slicer or 8-bit.
It's definitely a keeper. |

I'd never heard of that game.
What's the bass part of it like?
I am trying to convince my 13 year old son to learn bass.

Was able to get some sweet guitar sounds out of it. Favorite effects so far:
- Tube Screamer (duh)
- Stereo Delay
- Bassman or Marshall Super Bass. The SuperBass 4x12 cab seems to work best for guitar (since it essentially is a guitar cab). |
