| | | | I might have missed this earlier in the thread, but I couldn't help but notice that the .b3p files are just simple XML. I was surprised to see a reference to Module4. It makes me wonder what else is in the works over at Zoom where they would need this extra section.
Has anyone tried to manually edit the .b3p file to add in values for Module4 to see what would happen?
I'm getting mine in a few days, so I may experiment with this to see what happens. |

| | | | There are some great patches on this thread . I've been up all night downloading, tweaking, and playing !
Does anyone know if any of these will come close to the copping the Orange bass amp tone ? If not Maybe I'll give a go at creating one. |

| The Tangerine amp model is supposed to mirror the Orange sound. Whether it does or not I don't know, I don't have an Orange amp to compare.

| Whoops! (My apologies.)
I have a G3 as well as a B3. I had the two confused!
It's the G3 that has the Tangerine model. Doh!

| | | | Some initial patches Here are a some patches that I put together this week. I haven't had time to play with the B3 in a live situation, so I can't really say how well anything will integrate with other instruments. As always, your mileage may vary.
I've designed my patches to be in parity with my dry bass level. I've found that setting the Level of effect and the Total Patch Level at 100 was way too hot. Lowering the levels to 50% (75 and 60, respectively) seemed to do the trick. Yorkville Bassmaster XS
This is essentially a DI clone of my bass rig. It's intended to be played through a power amp or PA on those occasions when it is not necessary to haul all of my gear. 160 Comp

I'm attempting to mimic the sound of an Electro-Harmonix Bassballs envelope filter. I don't actually have one, so I'm just kinda making stuff up. I welcome feedback on this patch from anyone who actually has both a Bassballs and a B3. Z-Syn

I'm getting mine in a few days, so I may experiment with this to see what happens. |
It turns out that <Module0>,<Module1> and <Module2> are for each of the three effects. <Module3> is the Total settings and <Module4> is for the expression/switch pedal settings.
In the top, the <Tooltip> is used for the mouse-over on the effects when they are in the banks. I haven't found a use for <Keywords> yet.
I tried experimenting by using invalid effect parameters but when I did the B3 defaulted the effect to OptComp.
I noticed that all effects have their own factory presets, so anytime you load an effect into a bay it may have its default values. I would love it if I could set my own effect presets so that when I go moving stuff around I don't always have to reconfigure them. Perhaps a Firmware Flash will remedy this. |

| | | I've uploaded 10 new patches to the shared Google Docs Folder. A Chorus Line A set of three different choruses. Intended to be used individually. bASSballs A conceptual clone of the Electro-Harmonix Bassballs pedal. bASSmaster An amp model of the Yorkville Bassmaster xs800 combined with an Eden 4x10 XST. El Oso A conceptual clone of the Heavy Electronics El Oso Bass Distortion pedal. Flange-O-Rama A group of three different flangers. Intended to be used individually. Pink Rainbow A conceptual clone of the EarthQuaker Devices Rainbow Machine pedal. Princess DI A clean and simple DI. Rolling Z A tempo-based, dual-phased Z-Synth. Set 2 Stun A set of two different phasers -- the two warps are set in opposite directions. Intended to be used individually. SynthXpress A set of three distinctly different synths. Intended to be used individually, but can be pretty wicked when combined in pairs.
Some of the patches such as Flange-O-Rama and Rolling Z use a tap tempo to set the speed of the flanging effect. You'll need a basic press-hold footswitch in order to take advantage of that feature.
I don't have the time to get into all of the settings right now; just download them and have some fun.
I'm just getting started with crafting specific sounds as well as organizing logical effect groupings for faster set-up. I welcome your feedback and input. Enjoy! |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Nov 2008 Location: Chicago, Il. | | Here's another patch I've come up with. it is a tube bass sound with a swirling flanger effect that closely duplicates the isolated bass track to them bones by alice in chains. for those who don't know, mike starr from alice in chains uses a flanger effect during the recording of them bones. it isn't that noticeable in the mix, but I would believe that mike uses a flanger effect to add an atmospheric dimension to the song. the isolated bass track sounded pretty cool. and now here's the patch that closely duplicates that sound.
Them bones
Section 1: booster: gain:30, bass:1, treble:4, level:40
Section 2: vinflngr: depth:70, rate:25, reso:8, pred:2, mix:75, level:100, locut:280hz
Section 3: svt: bass:2, mid:4, treble:3, midfq:300hz, gain:45, level:50, ultra:both, cab:ag8x10, mix:50
For those who wanna check out the Isolated bass track to them bones, here's the clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAr0_TVH-Lg

| | Registered User | | Join Date: May 2006 Location: Victoria, BC, Canada | | | I just uploaded a few patches. They are all pretty out there. Ringverb-ringmod>hallreverb the frequency of the ringmod is swept with an expression pedal. Three sort of similar wobble patches-JWOBBS, Wobb3, Wobble 3. VaG-A fat V-synth patch that sounds great with an OC-2 feeding it. And a strange industrial drum and bass patch SynthRvibe which is the V-synth>ringmod>univibe(rate controlled via expression). Still kind of messing with the settings on that one but I had a lot of fun playing around with it yesterday.
The B3 is a lot of fun for coming up with strange out there sounds. It's well worth the price just for the vsynth, ringmod, and various wobbly options. Too bad the trem doesn't chop as hard as I would like but it is still fun to mess about with. |
