Zoom bypass/mute problem

Sign in to disble this ad
I own a B2 and recently i bought expression/volume pedal to go along with this unit.

I mainly use the pedal as a bypass/mute switch. It do what i wanted to do, it change to bypass/mute mode easily and fast. But i get no sound coming out from bypass/mute mode.

But when i step on the 2 switch to change to bypass mode i get sound.

I just found out that when the pedal is press it switches to Bypass mode then mute the unit. This is same as when you press the 2 zoom switch and hold it for 1 sec. It goes to "ne" mode.

Was wondering have anyone over come this problem.

i used to have a zoom 607 (forerunner of the b2)

if you press both buttons together, it goes to PB mode, which is the tuner, and bypass.

if you hold both buttons for a couple of seconds it goes to NT mode, which is the tuner, but with the output muted.

to get out of either of these modes, just press one of the buttons.

This may have changed for the B2, but i hope that helps.

I think is to do with my expression pedal. I bought a wrong one i think so it only goes to BP and mute when use. I may need to get a footswitch for the B2 unit.

so are you saying it's muted in BP mode?

if so, then the best thing to do is to choose a patch you never use, set all the controls to off, so no EQ, drive, wah, delay, mod, anything. set the level to unity gain and just use this patch for your bypass.

It shouldn't mute in bypass mode. To get to bypass mode you stomp both footswitches at the same time for a short duration - you should see "bp" in the display. It SHOULD mute in mute mode. To get to mute mode you stomp and HOLD both footswitches for about a second - you should see "nt" in the display.

It shouldn't react to the expression pedal at all while in bypass mode.

I'm a little confused as to how you have your expression pedal set up. You have to set it up in the control module for each patch. If you want a separate dedicated bypass switch you will need a switch rather than an expression pedal, I think. If you're using an expression pedal with the B2 set up for a switch it may not work right. I don't know for sure, I've never used an external switch but I have used an expression pedal (mostly just for volume).

Problem solve. Use a wrong external pedal. I bought a unlatch footswitch and it works fine just what i wanted. Both latch or unlatch switch works fine with this, i tested it out in the shop. I guess i just use my expressional pedal as volume pedal for my board.
