| The bass response you hear from my rig in the first clip is actually more bass response than the rig clean actually produces. My bad for not doing clean clips, but that bass sounds like crap clean so, you understand (sounds great with overdrive though). That's right, if you set it up right, the Box of Rock can actually boost your low end.
I did trade my Box of Rock, but only because I really needed some guitar work done and couldn't afford to pay cash for it, but really because I now own a Marshall Amp which is capable of the Marshall overdriven sound (obviously), and because I was getting an Orange Tiny Terror, ie: I now rely on amplifiers for my overdriven tones. The only thing, for my purposes, that I would consider over the Box of Rock as a dedicated overdrive pedal would be a Tubescreamer variant, which is a no go for you you say. So I'd say try the Box of Rock, it's definitely no Tubescreamer. You don't have to take that with too many grains of salt because I've owned probably over $30,000 worth of pedals, most of which was probably invested in overdrives. It's an obsession! |
