I've never messed with any of the Probe stuff
I do really like the Wooly Mammoth, and most other Zvex distortions and fuzzes.
However, I think they are too expensive new for what you get. You can usually negotiate good deals in the Classifieds here for used stuff.
Or you can find someone to build a clone. If you do that, have them add a clean/dirty blend control. A Mammoth clone with a blend control is probably my favorite dirt box right now.
Also, are you playing an active or passive bass?
It makes a huge difference with at least most Zvex stuff.
Playing a mammoth with a passive bass, then switching to an active is almost like using two different effect pedals.
(I see you are mainly a drummer, so if your bass has a battery in it; just call it an active bass.)
I like both active and passive going through Zvex, but some people are let down when the first get their $300 pedal and it sounds like a glitch fuzz because the demos they saw were using passive basses and they have an active bass.
