ZVEX - Paint Jobs

Sign in to disble this ad
Are they all really hand painted? If so how?.....must be a pain in the you know what to paint each one. Maybe they have a special template for each pedal....eh who knows. but yea....the paint jobs are very cool. looking at the woolly mammoth in person, i am very impressed with the paint job.

O yea...... i've been messing with a friend's woolly mammoth. one trick pony which lacks much versatility but it sounds pretty damn good. obviously for the price it is overrated and i would never fork over $360 for a new one but i have the opportunity to buy one for $200. good deal? i think i could flip it if i sold it later.

I do believe they are all hand painted (except the vextor series). That's one thing that drives up the cost.

they just all look so immaculate...no imperfections. makes it hard to believe they are "all" hand painted.

They all are. If you look on the website, they sell the ones that did not come out perfect for cheaper.

Jason Myrold and crew are amazing.

If you like it. I have not played through a Mammoth yet, so I could not tell you what that mammoth sound sounds like.

I can't afford to spend 200 on anything right now...althought I might buy back my El Grande...but that's if I don't spend too much between now and February.

$200 is a KILLer price on a Mammoth, IMO. If you don't pull the trigger, please direct me.

(but seriously).

And, they DO use templates. I had an interview at the shop last spring, and got a bit of a tour. Real cool shop. Anyway, there's a template and something of a step-by-step process with the paintjobs. It was really cool to see.

A close friend of mine is a commercial illustrator and I've seen him paint high quality art pieces in very little time. He's done countless motorcycles tanks, gun stocks, skateboards, murals, magazine advertisements and even guitars and basses. He's good at it but there are many other professional artists who could do the same thing and ZVEX obviously has a person on their staff with this level of talent. It doesn't mean that everything is painted freehand; there are many techniques that artists use for illustration.

It's just like a professional musician with years of practice - he can do amazing stuff on command and make it look easy yet it's hard for an amateur to believe that it can be done.

Dude, and Fuzzrocious is a one person paint team! It's a long process.

I know that Shan uses a template for almost everything every time and freehands as little as possible. Zvex does an amazing job w/ their paint jobs!

Yes, and if you compared the same models side by side, you will see they are not a completely perfect match. Hand painted for sure.

I like the hand painted Zvex series but the fuzz factory vexter looks pretty nice too, what is the real difference between the top ones, vexter and USA vexter??

According to Zack, the components are exact same. Just the Vexter's are assimbled over seas and silkscreened and the USA vexters are made here in the US and silk screened.

Ok cool, by the look of the website the USA vexters aren't screened but engraved.
