I want to throw this out there.
I don't want Tim Commerford's signature sound but I do respect how it sounds in some way and i'm looking to experiment Off of it.
What do you suggest in terms of distortion pedals and octave pedals?! |

1. Welcome to TB
2. The search function is your best friend
3. The short answer is that there isnt one pedal that will give you the timmy C sound because he runs a massive amount of gear. he used to use an original marshall guv'nor which will get you close to the timmy c sound. they can be had on ebay or the TB classifieds fairly cheap |

As I search now I'm running into more and more of them. So we tell people to search or give bad info for the sake of comedy and then we just pile up the number of worthless threads so that someone who actually does search gets a less and less value out of doing that legwork.
To me James Hart's answer is the best one. If you want to show someone how useful the search function is, find an appropriate thread and link to it.
As someone that searches about as much as he reads/posts in current threads the clutter of worthless threads is annoying.
To the OP, the reason the Guv'nor works for Commerford and not for you is that he bi-amps his rig so he's always got clean lows combined with the overdrive tone. On a budget a blender like the Barge VB-jr might be way to go for you to keep your low end intact. |

Yesterday I played my SX 70's jazz into VT Bass --> Boss Limiter Enhancer --> 220'ish watts of tube amp and an 810. The amp is set with only a touch of dirt, a little less treble and slightly less volume, the VT has more treble and mids in, heaps more gain and a touch more volume for 2 channels effectively. That was about as close as I think I could get without being Tim Commerford himself.

| | | | I would say the ORIGINAL marshall guv'nor. I just (literally) bought a mint condition one with the box/ manual and all of that and it should be getting here soon! I'm so pumped, I've wanted another one of these for a long time! I didn't get it to sound like Tim though, just giving my 2 cents. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
