Has anybody tried these pots??? http://www.alessandro-products.com/parts.html
I'm not trying to bash the company or anything, but I am incredibly curious as to how a pot can be worth $50 |

| | | | I've got one of the Allessandro home bias-meters, he's always been quick to answer emails etc, he seems like a reasonable and decent guy, the bias meter was reasonably priced, so not everything he sells is really expensive.
Here's his description: "Finest guitar pots available. Alessandro proprietary custom audio taper. This audio-taper pot eliminates the "jumpiness" of the lesser-quality pots. Alessandro custom 1W Military-Specification Carbon Custom Taper Pots Come Standard with: 1/2" bushing 1/4" solid Stainless Steel shaft "
If they really are the finest available, $50 doesn't sound too bad, they probably last FOREVER, -any other pots you know of use solid stainless steel shafts? The best of anything is gonna cost you. |

And Stainless shafts??? Why bother. Seems a little extravagant to me.

You folks did notice that those potentiometers in question are 1W & 2W types? Much more expensive than the normal .25W or .5W ones. Not that the power handling is needed in lo-level AF circuits .
I don't think that he has too much problems with selling those if the specs are as advertised.

you have to be able to determine for yourself what is good value and what isn't...
I use $2 pots and they sound like $2 pots...I reckon a $50 pot would sound like a...a....$10 pot |

| | | | FWIW their headphones are basically rebranded grados so I wouldnt be surprised if something similiar was going on with the pots. |

Doubt if they've ever sold one, it's just a way to get people talking about their brand. See, it worked.

As for these $50 pots...seems a little excessive to me...but then again, I almost spent the $$ on one of HAS's pots so that I could run a stacked pot eq on a OBP-1 - but the postage was more than the pot itself...
