*HELP WITH JAZZ BASS WIRING**

Sign in to disble this ad
So I plugged in my brand new Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass V, and there's no sound. I've played it before, but now there's nothing. I opened it up to see what the issue was and I found that a wire on the input jack was disconnected (There should be a picture attached). If someone could tell me where it goes (I'm not really good with this stuff) that would be much appreciated.

If you need more pictures/ different angles, I would be more than happy to upload them.

Thanks!

STEWMAC.COM : Instructions for Wiring Kit for Jazz Bass

The red wire goes where I put the green circle. You should see a bit of wire on the contact where it broke off the pot's tab. I think I can see it in the pic. See that little piece of wire sticking out?
Verify, and follow the diagram.

I'm still a little confused (noobie here). So where exactly do I solder this wire? Onto the third lug of the tone pot where the other red cable is soldered?

and turn that jack so the wire clears everything, then tighten it down so it doesn't spin again (which is how the wire got broke in the first place).

loose knobs and jacks can't be left alone, people! they spin around and break stuff, and your bass stops making sound!

Or the sounds that it makes, are not pretty or fun.. and they piss off people, and get you kicked out of gigs, and fired from bands!!

(just going the extreme route so people actually start doing something about it)

My gosh, you're right. They are just like children aren't they?

I need to call my accountant first thing in the morning and tell him of all the new dependents I can claim. It's going to be a good tax year!

No seriously. that's damn good advice. Listen to Walter. I sometimes do repairs on friends instruments and can't think of a single instrument with an electrical problem that didn't also feature a loose pot. Ounce of prevention and all that...

I have the same bass, and am not thrilled with the quality of the pots and Jack so they are getting replaced.
