3 Way Switching Possible?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a '95 MIM P bass that I love and recently had the frets crowned, leveled and polished (highly recommend this guy www.fretpower.com btw), and I love the playability but I want MORE. So after talking to the aforementioned luthier I have decided to replace the pup and electronics.

I have a DiMarzio Model P, 2 500k CTS pots, orange drop .022 caps, switchcraft jack. I am also adding a switch for parallel/series. I happened to order the wrong switch from basspartsresource. I got the DPDT but a 3 way instead of a 2 way. So I then ordered the Dimarzio 2 way switch that is made for the pup (DPDT 2 way).

Now Im wondering if I could still use the 3 way with parallel/series/series(bass boost). Is this possible while staying passive?

Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly, an on-on-on DPDT switch wired for standard series/parallel would give you series/single coil/parallel. All that would happen is the single coil would cut out half of the P pickup (not useful).

Correct.

The center position would mute one coil of the pickup.

Surprisingly enough I have yet to see any of those chicks there. They are probably just Clay's nieces.

Yeah so Im just rolling with the 2 way. No 3 ways for me.

Thanks guys. And again, fretpower is the truth and he is VERY reasonably priced.
