3-Way Wiring Question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm wiring a p/j bass that I'm building, but instead of just having two volume pots I am using a 3-way selector switch. I would like to have the option of either just having the P pickup on, having just the P pickup on going straight to to the output jack, or having the P and J pickups on. Any ideas on how to wire this?

Thanks

Which 3 way selector? This is not trivial to do without loading the pickups even when their controls are not in the circuit.

Try this.

BTW - A normal 3-way pickup selector switch (i.e., Les Pauls) won't work because they are usually 2P3T toggles (on-on-on) and short A and C to B when in the middle position. And they only have 2 poles.

Not sure what you mean by this. There is a standard 3 way selector switch wiring...but do you want to bypass tone and volume controls with one of the settings?
