4001 pick-up replacements?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a line on a '76 4001, so I tested it out the other day.
Amazing instrument, but the pick-ups seemed a tad quiet compared to what I'm used to.

Just curious what my options were if I wanted to replace the pick-ups with something a little hotter (but still passive).

Recs?

ps - there's a good chance I'll just leave it stock, but i just thought it'd be good to at least do a little research on the subject.

that one might have the little choking cap in line with the bridge pickup, which cuts its low end and volume somewhat.

bypassing it (by replacing it with a straight piece of wire, or even just leaving it in and soldering the wire alongside it) will bring back the "balls" of the bridge pickup.
