5-string P bass PUP.

I have a custom 5 string jazz bass. When it was made, 10 years ago, I had the luthier route out room for a P-J configuration should I ever want to go that way. That day came. I used a mexican Fender P-bass 5-string stock replacement. The sound is o.k., but doesn't have that vintage chunk clunk that I want. I don't think it uses alnico/V magnets, but some new "cobalt" magnet. It's noiseless, but loses something else IMO.

So I need an aftermarket or replacement P pickup for 5-string spacing and I was wondering if anyone could help. I want good output, and good lows and mids.

Thanks

Check out the Norstrand NP5. They seem to specialize in vintage reproductions.

Nordstrand, Duncan, Bartolini, and Sadowsky are the usual suspects.

Be careful about string spacing ... there are not really "standards" for 5s like there are for 4s.
