| 5 string pup problem

I just picked up a used but very nice older Samick custom 5. The bass is active and plays great but the B is a bit weak and the G is very weak. Could it be the coils in the pups are too short? I brought the pups up and it helped the B some ....nada on the G...new pups coming?
