50's reissue P bass capacitor value?

Could someone tell me the value of the capacitor fitted in a Fender 50's reissue P bass please,the load of numbers written on the cap doesn't mean anything to me and my multimeter is at a friends house 50 miles away!!!i guess it's a .047,but not 100% sure,thanks for your help guys.

Why don't the numbers mean anything to you?

Are they unreadable?

There should either be a "473" for 0.047uF, or a "104" for 0.1uF.

Yes they are smudged,can't read them properly.

In that case it's obvious that you'll either have to find a way to measure the actual capacitance of that unit or find a wiring diagram online that lists what value that bass is supposed to have.

Or you could just try a .047 and a .1 and see which sounds best to you.

I agree with this.

If you have two of either value lying around, you can try series and parallel combinations to get the other value.
