i finally got my dual coils in my 55-01. so far, i like the change. i haven't had the chance to test it in a band setting, that won't be 'till friday. i'll post a better review and sound clips when i can.

Cool! Series or parallel wired?
Let us know how do you like 'em
BTW, you could use a P/P (maybe on the vol pot) and split them for single coil sound!

How well do they fit into the existing routes?

they're wired parallel. i do have two switches installed for series/single coil/parallel choices. the switches are in the control cavity untill i decide if i'm going to be happy with this mod, then i'll drill holes in the bass. there is a 3/32 gap at the neck and bridge side of each pickup routings. this photo will show the gap.

Cool to know that Nordstrands are a drop-in replacement. I've been considering getting a 55-01 for a while now, but I don't really like the MK-1 PU's in my Ibanez, so I'm afraid I won't like the Lakie's tone.

That looks awesome. I'm anxious to read the gig review, but suspect it will be positive.

I have NJ5Fs in one of my basses and totally dig them. I'll be looking to Nordize some more of my basses.

Has anyone done any comparisons between the Bart and the Nordie? I'm considering changing the pups on my 55-01, and am considering either of these. The only clips that I have heard, are the ones in this thread, and I like what I hear, but am still curious about the Barts.

I have previously replaced the MK1 pre with a U-Retro Deluxe, and am wondering what I can expect from either option.

Actually maybe if I got two pair of Nordstrand Jazz pickups I could make a custom pickup housing for them and they'd fit...yeeeeaaaahhhh
