Try the Rio Grande. Dusty Hill likes 'em.

I did try to ground the pickup cover. No real difference for me. The noise I have is really single coil typical. I just turn myself a bit and it disappears. Works 180 degree... Manageable in the studio, but harder for live gigs...

I like the tone SO much on this bass, one of my favorite bass ever! I don't want to loose that tone, prefer to deal with the noise!

Yup, the famous single coil hum. No way of getting rid of it with any sheilding.
To me it really only bugs in the rehersal room, and yeah stand at an angle to the amp and it goes away. On several stages I never notice it with the normal club noise going on.

There's NO noise at all with this pickup but I still prefer the tone of the original single coil...

Any one want this stacked pickup?
This is interesting as I agonized over the same thing when considering a replacement pickup for my mid 50's style Precision. I considered getting a Fralin split coil, but had a couple of different humbucking sets of Jazz pickups which sounded good, but not quite the same as their single coil counterparts. I wanted to be sure and have the real deal original Precision sound, so I got the single coil version which is noisy, but has that classic sound.
