Sign in to disble this ad
I really want a clear concise and punchy tone on my six string project, best illustrated I guess by this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiLuPpF75zE
and to a certain extent I want the clarity of this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndyJjMqooKQ
right now I'm thinking delano split coil humbuckers, or the classic bass series by bartolini, the body on my bass is ash btw and the neck is wenge,
thanks for the help, if I could get a tone halfway as clear and punchy as tetsuo's I would be eternally grateful to you guys

I can't really see the pickups on that TRB, but if they're the stock pickups they'll be Yamaha humbuckers with Alnico magnets. I myself cam home today to find my Delano quad coils and 3 band EQ and arrived

| I looked into it and found NOTHING, then again I don't speak japanese so I don't know what to search, my best guess is that they're aeros, but I spoke to the guy at aero (most helpful company owner in the world btw) and he quoted me 250 per pickup...a bit out of my price range, if anyone knows what they are for sure I would be incredibly grateful Quote: |

| hmm, interesting though, any clips of your bass, I saw the test of emg's that a tber did but it's mostly pick style of metal, the only other DC clip I can find is of a guy tapping, and it sounds dead on like what I'm looking for, but if you had one of someone playing jazz or something with fingers i would really apreciate it,
also, EMG's are active eh? how would wiring a pair of those go?

With the proper bass.My aries 6 string sounds similar.
(VERY expensive,i saw on the USa ebay They go for 3400$ ,i got mine for less as I live Close to Croatia ,where they are made ,so picked by hand)
If You DON't WANT to spend A lot of Money,EMG's are the best bang for the buck(here in europe ,so I think even less There in USA),
and If You want clarity and don't want to spend a lot..Than JUST Emg comes In my mind.
used By a lot Of high end basses too(modulus etc).
I got a bit bored by them ,but is 15 years That i use them. And the different studio guys in the years liked always the sound of them
_________
For clips:
ALmost all the record of My life i did With EMg,But strangely i don have a bass_clip_only , at the moment on my pc.
I don't play Jazz,Playing In the past "symphonic Metal"
(for what that term can tell You),with lot of classical passage doubling Cellos Or guitar ,so clarity was first than "punch".
Bass In a Mix You can check a band called "rhapsody" ,Now called "rhapsody of fire"due to legal problems with another one .
Maybe i can record with the soundblaster a clip ,but Off course CAN't be the same.
_____
Last ,check some Tber like Sgd (he works with ceramic And Neodynium, very "clear" sounding meterials )and Others ,
who build Pickups At honest Prices..but AT HAND (so off Course You can't get get for so Low price like Emg). |

If you want to find out what pickups they are, add Tetsuo on myspace. I added him and he will always reply to you or listen to your tunes if you have music posted. The best thing to do is send a message with your friend request asking what pickups he uses in his different basses, then you know he will definitely get back to you the next time he logs in.

| | | | yeah almost of all the foderas use either custom aeros or custom duncans, I looked into that, as to the freinding tetsuo, great idea, but I don;t use myspace.

Looks like you cleared it up anyway
