60 cycle hum tone

Hi, I was wondering, in your opinion, how much does 60 cycle hum contribute to growly/edgy tone, and are pickups more tame when that hum is canceled out??

i am trying to decide between nordy big single or big split single, the only obvious difference being the presence of hum in the prior.

Zero.

None of my basses have any 60Hz hum. Or 50Hz for that matter either.

RF interference really bugs the sh!t out of me, so I opt for hum canceling designs whenever I'm looking at pickups.

It's not just mains frequency though, it's also the high frequency buzzing from neon, dimmers, fluorescents, switch mode power supplies, CRT monitors etc, etc, etc....

Signal is signal,
Noise is noise,
And never the twain should meet!

There is a nordstrand forum.
The big singles are supposed to be pretty silent (ie the hum is not overbearing).
And yes the Big splits are a more tame version: less detail in the mids, smoother top end. Which give them more emphasis on the low end => more of a P bas sound when neck pup is solo'd.
