Active p/j bass: alnico or ceramic pups?

I wonder if it doesn't really matter what you put in as s pup magnet for an active circuitry. If alnico is lower output, surely the fact you have a preamp is going to help, should you need the boost??

Other than that, what pup for p/j is going to give the most warm, vintage low end out there at the moment? I love the Sting bass tone...

Most active basses are pasive pups and active eq preamp. You can use either type of passive pup depending on tone pref, alnico or ceramic.
