| | | | a ground-shorting kill switch wouldn't work unless it was always meant to kill everything, not just one pickup.
a 3-way toggle to select pickups and a 2-way kill switch would work;
for two pickup on/off switches to work, they would need to just disconnect the pickups rather than shorting to ground.

I was looking at Line6man's drawing in the third post. He used an SPDT (effectively since just one pole was in use) that switches the hot lead to ground for the off side; I was curious if that functioned better than an SPST or leaving the other lug unconnected. Both cut the signal from just the one pickup. But is sending the signal to ground better than just disconnecting it from the jack?

Sorry I am not doubting your expertise, just trying to get an idea of why not and whether this is a thing that has room for negotiating.

| | | | I just meant that if you were hell-bent on two toggles, this would be one way to do it, redundant or not.
As for the two kill-switch thing, it doesn't matter to you as a player, it's just how the wiring would need to be to work.

I really feel dumb, but the switch I already had will definitely work without a second switch. It is an ON/ON switch. Nobody referenced the link I posted? It was so simple I didn't realize. I kept trying to complicate things. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electron...st=3&xsr=70419
Since I have the ON/ON, why don't I just go with that as a basic pickup selector between the Jazz and Precision PUs. Then master volume and master tone.
Since I know nothing about electronics, I kept thinking of it as a simple kill switch, but it should go two ways.
So how would I wire a P/J scheme to have a simple selector switch (this or that) with master tone and volume?
Thanks,
and PS...I might go with a 3 way switch later, to have them combined in the middle. But for now I would like to save money and use what I already had.

But on the toggle, what is up with the C?!
I see where A and B come from, but what is C doing? What is it? Where is it going? Is it wired to both those middle terminals? It's kinda confusing.
Thanks for such a quick response too!

Thanks for such a quick response too! | "C" goes to both commons. You can do this with only one pole, but that's the diagram I have for three way switching. If you want, just connect the pickups to the throws of one pole, and use the common as the output. |
