Advice

I have an ibanez 1305, and I wanted to install a new preamp. Got an EMG BQC and tried installing myself, didnt work.
Long story short, took the bass to a shop, guy mentions that the emg may not work with the stock pickups, because emg is low impedence. Talks me into installing EMG pickup, which are splittable, and for the entire thing (two new 5 string emg pickups, new battery harness install, pickup install, preamp install, and setup) its gonna cost around $300. The idea of having nice new emg's is appealing, and he totally sold me on it in the shop. Now however I am thinking about the $300, which I initially though would be under $100 for the install and a setup.
I think he gave me a good price, but the price is a lot for me.
Is it worth having these pickups? Will it be that much better ($240). Or should I call him and have him use the old stock pickups?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
