Advice on amp repairs

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all!
I know this is an amp question rather than a bass question, but I was hoping somebody could help. I have a Roland Cube 30 which has started to hiss a lot, even at low volume and with no effects. The hissing is a lot quieter if I earth it by touching the strings on the instrument or by touching the metal ends of either lead; one from amp to pedal rack, one from rack to instrument. I've tried taking the pedal rack out of the equation and going straight from amp to bass, I've tried different leads and different basses, it always keeps hissing. I'm guessing I need to do some soldering but I've never opened up an amp before so I don't know where to start. Any advice would be happily accepted!
