Advice for EMG upgrade in Dean Edge

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a 4-string Dean Edge with EMG-HZ soapbars in bridge and neck positions. I'd like to upgrade to EMG actives, and possibly make it a one-pickup bass (keep it simple!). Would it be better to have a DC in the neck or a CS in the bridge? CS in the bridge would distort better, but the DC would have the 'big bass' sound. I've got a Sansamp BDDI, would pushing the bass EQ on it with a bridge CS yield sufficient oomph?

DC Neck, CS Bridge.

Just buy the 2 pups, you obviously want both.

P.S. Wrong forum.

I then recommend the DC in the neck, very full sounding , even from the neck position. (not good in bridge position, very harsh treble)

Looks like I scored a 35CS

I'm gonna try it in the bridge alone, and see how it fares. I hope it's gonna be plenty aggressive, and still retain a solid bottom. Should I put in a neck PU too, I think the logical choice would be between a 35P and 35DC, not a big fan of neck J's. Anyone tried both and can enlighten me on the differences?

Try and play a Spector Euro LX -- they have DC's in neck AND bridge.... it'll give you a semi-decent idea.
