Thumbs up Advice on picking an 18v preamp for my Warwick

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been considering upgrading my current preamp to a 3 band 18v. I have a Warwick Corvette Pro line with MEC pickups and a 3 band 9v and a wizard electronics friend to help. My style of playing is jazz/funk. My question(s) are this: What brand would you recommend. I am currently considering Bartolini or Aguilar and in choosing one of these would I need to upgrade my pickups?

Thanks,
An electronics Flunky

As a new user of Noll preamps, I'd say Noll, so you'd have a 100% German bass! But Noll preamps are really great, and work at 18V no problems.

You might want to look at Audere too. They have just about any combination you can imagine for volume/tone/pan/etc.

Thumbs up

You could also make your current 9v preamp an 18v by adding another battery connector on the cheap...

But we don't know if his preamp can handle running from 18V...

The question is, why is 18v a requirement? What does the OP hope to gain by using 18v?
