Aeros in a DJ 4... not my thing

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys

Picked up a Skyline DJ 4. First off, the bass is smokin'.

The Aeros are not! At least to my ears. Over-aggressive and suitable for rock but IMO not very refined.

Would it be taboo for me to put new pickups in there? And if so, has anyone had any experience swapping pickups on a DJ bass?

Thanks!
Matt

Did you buy it new or used? Because new Laklands DJs come with Lakland single coils and I like it a lot that way - although I liked DJs with Aeros too. You may think of contacting Lakland to get these, after all Darryl Jones approved Lakland single-coils.

That's a flippin great idea. I love the sound of the new Lakland pickups on the site.

And just so I know I'm not crazy.. I also am not in love with the Aero sound in the DJ clip on the site.

I wonder how much they would charge.. or if I could just swap em. I'll call and find out!

I have been dealing with the same issue. Check out this thread and it should help answer some questions:

Lakland DJ4.
