Aftermarket active jazz pickups for fender V?

is this a USA jazz V? how about keeping the pickups and adding an active preamp?

It's actually the squier by fender vintage modified jazz bass, ive never done that ever.. How do I go about doing that?

If you want active pickups, you don't have many choices. As Walter said, it's probably a better idea to go with passive pickups and a preamp.

If the bass is currently passive, your easiest method of adding a preamp would be to opt for one of the drop-in models made by Audere or East UK.

EMG also makes nice preamps that aren't too pricey, like the BTS or BTC "controls".
