Question Aguilar or Audere

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay, so I am going to swap the electronics out on my MTD Kingston Artist 5.

I am going with a Villex Pickup, do I go Aguilar OBP-3 or Audere? Which will give me more tonal variety, range?

If you select other, please - elaborate......

Thanks, Gus

I vote Audere. The Aguilar is great but I find I use the Z-mode switch on the Audere more than I've ever used bass/treble knobs on any pre.

Birminghambass - thanks. I've not had an Audere w/a Z-Mode switch- could you tell me (A) how you utilize it in playing situations and (B) what exactly it does for you?
THanks.

They are very different preamps. Audere is a great preamp, very transparent and the perfect choice if you're looking for a traditional/passive tone with active versatility.

OPB-3 is very aggressive on boost / cut. More suited for players who want a "colored" tone.

Thanks depalm - yea, I've had an Audere before - a Classic 4-band, but not the X-Mode version where I am leaning - and I've never tried an Aggie pre. I am definitely leaning towards Audere.
