The pre is actually a Korean licensed Bartolini MK-1 pre, not the same as the US. There's lots of threads already about swapping pres on the 44-01 and even more on the 55-01. Try doing some searching on 55-01 pre swaps and you'll see lots of info.
That said I actually kinda like my MK-1 pre, sounds pretty good, and slightly aggressive. I haven't felt a need to change it yet.
