All,
I'm having this preamp installed and the specs call for 25k bass/treble pots. What would be the consequences of installing 50k or 100k pots, instead?
Thanks. |

What would result from using other than 25k bass/treble stacked pots? Would it affect the tone, fry the preamp, etc.? |

Other than that, ask Aguilar, only they could know for shure. Treble might work if (big if) pot is inthere used as buffered resistive divider; bass most cetranly wont. If treble works, and you use 50k dual pot, you could get near enough if you strap 50K resistor across bass pot, but pot law will be screwed somewhat. |

What is a "pot law" though? |

Relationship of angle of rotation versus resistance at tapper. Lin, Log, Antilog, S. Stuff like that.
There are manufacturers that make true log potentiometers (not this piecewise linear crap), rotary and linear, super nice stuff, but you'll find those in 100k mixing desks, not in guitars. |
